Patalia Tate

Patalia Tate most recently served as VICE PRESIDENT, PORTFOLIO MARKETING & CREATIVE STRATEGY at DISCOVERY, INC. (now merged with Scripps Networks Interactive).  She led ad sales marketing and creative efforts for the portfolio’s lifestyle brands, including FOOD NETWORK, COOKING CHANNEL, HGTV, DIY, TRAVEL CHANNEL, and GREAT AMERICAN COUNTRY.

 

She has also led consumer brand positioning and creative strategies for TRAVEL CHANNEL and FOOD NETWORK as well as the launch for COOKING CHANNEL. Patalia has overseen creative development for launch and re-launch strategies, leading in-house teams and agencies developing and executing tactical promotion, print design, series and campaigns, brand extension design packaging, and ad sales marketing creative.

Patalia has also held a position as Director, Marketing & Strategy for A&E Television Networks.  In this role, she developed communications strategies for the media company’s three (3) fastest-growing family of network brands:  History International; History Channel en espanol, and Military History Channel.  Her role also included creating targeted relationship campaigns, developing positioning strategies,  building core audiences,

strategizing and implementing all paid advertising communications, and heightening awareness and set the brands’ creative direction and tone. 

 

Other positions at AETN included:  Director, On-Air Promotion at History Channel; Managing Producer A&E Network.  Patalia’s experience also includes  Writer/Producer roles at KERA-TV, PBS affiliate in Dallas, Texas; KHOU-TV,   CBS affiliate in Houston, Texas; as well as various promotion positions at radio stations in Houston, Texas and Memphis, Tennessee.

 

Patalia is a member of various industry organizations including, PROMAX (Professional Organization for Marketing & Advertising Executives); CTAM (Cable Television Association for Marketers);  NAMIC  (National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communication); and WICT (Women in Cable Telecommunications)

 

Patalia has received numerous industry awards for creativity including:  CTAM Mark Gold & Silver Awards, Promax Gold Award;  BDA Gold Award; New York Film Festival Award;  and London International Advertising Award; and was named one of industry’s top advertising & marketing executives  by Black Enterprise Magazine.

 

A native of Memphis, Tennessee,  Patalia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.   She’s also completed an Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School as part of CTAM’s Executive Development program; and NAMIC’s Executive Leadership Development Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management.
