As Director of Scheduling for SundanceTV at AMC Networks, Sowon Sawyer is responsible for promoting audience growth for SundanceTV’s critically-acclaimed Emmy, Golden Globe and Peabody Award-winning content. She joined the company in this role in 2015.
Sawyer is also Co-Chair of AMC Networks’ Diversity & Inclusion committee, an internal group dedicated to creating programs to foster a more diverse and inclusive workplace. Through the committee, Sawyer has spearheaded the development of nine Employee Resource Groups, served as a key advisor on corporate diversity initiatives, and developed mentorship and professional development programs.
Prior to joining AMC Networks, Sawyer worked at Viacom as Director of Program Planning and Strategy for the Nicktoons and TeenNick channels. She began her Program Planning career as a Coordinator
at Nicktoons, where her innovative ideas and ratings-driven strategies helped to define the Nicktoons brand.
During her tenure, Nicktoons became ad-supported and grew in reach from 8 million to nearly 70 million homes. Additionally, Sawyer’s responsibilities expanded to encompass program planning for sister channels TeenNick and NickJr.
Sawyer began her Television career at Sunbow Entertainment as an International Sales Assistant, then Creative Coordinator. Subsequently, she gained experience with contract management, trademarks and licensing partnerships at Honest Entertainment as Manager of Creative and Business Affairs.
Sawyer has participated in various leadership programs including the NAMIC Leadership Seminar, the WICT Rising Leaders program and The Cable Center’s Intrapreneurship Academy. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in German Language and Literature from Wellesley College. Her greatest joy is to entertain (and be entertained by) her two children.
