Jeff Franzel

Songwriter and composer


Jeff Franzel is a multi-talented songwriter and composer with over 30 years’ experience in the music business. He began his career as a jazz pianist and toured with many groups, including big band legend Les Brown. During that time he accompanied such artists as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., and Mel Tormé. Jeff has been a Yamaha artist since 2011, and recorded his CD and DVD, Mood of the Moment, in front of a live audience at the Oscar Peterson Hall in Montreal on a Yamaha CFX Piano.


Jeff's current solo piano album, When You Know, is now available and was also recorded in Montreal in August, 2016.

Jeff recently performed solo piano at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater in NYC, and consistently performs at The Metropolitan Room. He's had a steady jazz trio gig at The Tangled Vine on the Upper West Side of Manhattan since 2011.

Jeff's song The Gift Is You was performed at Carnegie Hall lass December with The New York Pops Orchestra featuring Will and Anthony. Jeff is currently writing for Will and Anthony's upcoming CD.  Jeff will be recording a new CD with his current trio in Nashville TN in March, 2017 at Middle Tennessee State University using the new binaural recording technique consisting of his originals songs and pop 70's classics.


Jeff is currently working on a Billy Joel country tribute album as the pianist arranger. He is rearranging Billy's hit songs with Monty Powell and Anna Wilson featuring well known country artists. The album will be released in June, 2017.

He currently has songs to be released in 2017 by the DJ Thomas Gold, Rhys Lewis (Decca Records), Elvis Blue (Universal South Africa), Persons of Interest (London), Hayley Westenra, Filipa (South Africa),  Elyar Fox (London) and Peppina (Finland).

Jeff has written pop songs for such diverse artists as Josh Groban, Placido Domingo, Hayley Westenra, Kathy Troccoli, Clay Aiken, The Temptations, Shawn Colvin, ‘NSYNC, Dianne Reeves, Taylor Dayne, and Raven Symoné. He writes in virtually all styles and works with lyricists in many languages.


Jeff's songs have been featured on over 20 platinum albums in the U.S. and other countries. On the U.S. Billboard charts Jeff has had a #2 pop hit with Don't Rush Me, a top 10 AC hit with You've Got a Way, and a #1 Contemporary Christian song called Love Was Never Meant to Die. He has had top ten hits in Japan, England, Brazil, Australia, Holland, Belgium, South Africa and Poland.

Jeff has a song that Placido Domingo and Josh Groban recorded with lyrics adapted by Pope John Paul II which was #1 on the Classical Billboard charts in 2008. His song When You Know is the title track to Dianne Reeves' Warner Bros. Records release. Jeff co-wrote 3 songs with Hayley Westnera for her 2009 Christmas Winter Magic CD. Jeff recently had 5 top ten singles in South Africa recorded by Elvis Blue and Mark Haze.

Jeff has also had a number of his songs in film and TV. He has had songs in Runaway Bride, Serendipity, Dawson's Creek, Deja Vu, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Barbershop 2, Go Figure, Dear God, Gray Matter, Fort McCoy and Married Young.
